Sponsor a student
Our first scholarship student, Khanya, is doing very well in grade 2. Here she is with a certificate of achievement with one of her friends. We meet regularly with Kanya's teacher and with her mom, to ensure that she gets all the academic support she needs. We're pleased to say that she performs above the class average, which is an exceptional achievement for a child from a disadvantaged background who does not speak English as her first language.
We would like to sponsor more children like Khanya. The school we have partnered with, Glenwood House, is a top private school that produces some of the best results in the country. The school has generously reduced school fees by half for our scholarship students. Even so, it still costs between $100 and $200 per month to sponsor one student (depending on their grade and on the exchange rate).
Our appeal is to companies and individuals to partner with us by sponsoring one student for the duration of their school career at Glenwood House. Would you be willing to pledge a monthly donation and "adopt" a child? You will not be merely putting a child through school. You will be investing in tomorrow's leaders and influencers, and in a better future for South Africa, by giving a deserving child access to a world-class education.
Update: Scholarship program on hold
During the pandemic, when global tourism ground to a halt thanks to lockdowns and travel bans, donations to the Trust dried up completely. We continued supporting Khanya up to the end of her Grade 8 year. Over the last three years, our scholarship fund has dwindled to unsustainable levels and the program has been put on hold for now. We will relaunch the scholarship program when the necessary capital has been raised to ensure a sustainable endowment fund, before reopening applications to additional students.
